나폴리 작곡가 가에타노 베네치아노(1656~1716)의 교회음악은 최근 들어 고음악계에서 가장 활발하게 재평가받고 있는 장르 중 하나다. 감각적이고 세속적인 아름다움과 교회음악 전통이 묘하게 어울린 베네치아노의 수난곡은 나폴리 악파다운 매력이 흐르며, 당대의 인기 작곡가답게 진보적인 요소가 돋보인다. 알토 음역이 복음사가를 맡고 있어서 더욱 이국적인 매력이 있는데, 카운터테너 라파엘레 페가 이 어려운 역을 멋지게 노래했다. 기즐리에리 합창단과 카펠라 나폴리타나의 감각적이고 다이내믹한 연주 역시 나폴리 악파 특유의 화사한 아름다움을 잘 살렸다.
