러시안 로망스는 러시아 민요와 예술 가곡을 말하는데, 슬라브 특유의 깊은 애수와 낭만을 담고 있다.
러시아인들은 `노래`라기 보다 `로망스`라고 부르는 이유는 그 속에 정열, 슬픔, 고통, 외로움, 우울한 사랑의 이야기를 담고 있기 때문이다.
아르메니안 인민 가수, 아락스 다브티안은 아르메니아 출신 최고의 소프라노였다. 그녀의 목소리는 수정처럼 맑았으며, 정확한 인토네이션, 아름다운 프레이징으로 노래하였다. 모차르트 작품에 뛰어난 기량을 발휘하였고, 거장, 스피바코프와 함께 세계적으로 활동하였다.
2010년 61세를 일기로 타계한 명 소프라노가 남긴 러시아 로망스 앨범.
