죽음과 소녀`의 처절한 슬픔에 가득한 극적인 감동을 보다 큰 양감으로 감상할 수 있는 말러 편곡작품을 연주하고 있다. 후기 낭만시대에 이루러 큰 홀에서의 연주가 일반화 되면서 이러한 편곡은 자연스러운 과정이었을 것이다. 여기에 패트릭 스트럽의 지휘는 거세지만 거칠지 않은 격랑으로 휘몰아쳐 오는데, 마치 누구도 빠져나갈 수 없는 죽음의 그림자처럼 듣는 이를 강렬하게 부여잡는 힘이 있는 연주를 들려준다.
