이 앨범은 르네상스와 바로크 시기의 음악이 현재 우리가 좋아하는 음악과 어떤 공통된 특징이 존대한다는 생각에서 만들어지게 되었다.

바흐, 제수알도, 기본즈, 샤인 등의 작품을 브라스 5중주로 메르디안 아츠 앙상블은 1990 Concert Artists Guild New York Competition에서 우승을 했으며 LA타임즈는 교향악단과 같은 깊고 풍부한 사운드라고 평했다.
