카라얀은 1929년 살스버그에서 지휘자로 데뷔를 했다.그의 뛰어나고 오래된 레코딩 경력이 그를 인터네셔널한 스타로 만들었다.

그는 베르린 필하모닉 (Berlin Philharmonic)와 돈키호테 등수많은 콘서트를 했다.
