마스네의 최대 명작인 '마농'이 르네 플레밍, 마르첼로 알바레스 등 호화 캐스팅으로 이뤄진 파리 국립 오페라가 만들었다.
주인공 마농레스코 역으로 현재 세계무대에서 최고의 기량을 보여주는 르네 플레밍이 등장하는데, 역시 전편에서 그녀가 가장 매력적이다. 한 인터뷰에서 플레밍은 “마농은 내가 가장 좋아하는 역할”이라고 당당하게 말했었는데, 역시 그녀의 카리스마 넘치는 연기와 노래는 이 영상물에서도 아주 인상적이다. 마농이 dvd로 나왔다는 사실만으로도 기쁘지만 이렇게 최고의 성과를 거둔 영상물이 되었으니 감격스럽지 않을 수 없다.
