차이콥스키: 교향곡 1번, 2번, 5번
바실리 페트렌코(지휘), 로열 리버풀 필하모닉 오케스트라
엘가에 이어 바실리 페트렌코와 로열 리버풀 필하모닉이 차이콥스키 교향곡 전집을 시작했다. 1집인 이 음반에는 교향곡 1번, 2번, 5번이 담겨 있으며, 모두가 명쾌하고 선명한 연주들이다. 특히 페트렌코는 초기 교향곡에서 개성적인 해석을 선보이는데, 날선 리듬 감각과 집중력이 두드러지는 연주로 대단히 높은 성과를 만들어냈다. 한편 하이라이트인 5번에서도 악보의 악센트와 다이내믹을 철저하게 준수하면서 드라마틱한 굴곡을 만들어내는 개성을 과시하고 있다. 계속 이어질 교향곡 전집의 높은 성과를 미리 내다볼 수 있는 좋은 음반이다.
