"Bluegrass"음악은 유명한 만도린 주자 '빌 몬로'의 백 밴드 "The Blue Grass Boys"의 이름을 따 만들어 졌다. 원래는 미국 남동부 애팔래치안 산맥의 두메산골 밴드들에 의해 연주되던 컨트리 뮤직의 전형적인 한 형태로서 세상에 선을 뵌 이후 수많은 사람들에 의해 애연되었다. 본 음악의 창시자격인 'Bill Monroe' 'Flatt & Scruggs' 'The Stanley Brothers' 들의 연주가 수록되었다.
